Hiring Procedure for Guest Instructors

Each term, the EC shall solicit Guest Instructors from among the Membership of Milestone and the broader community. Guest Instructors shall be invited to participate in the School Meeting Course Catalog Design Process, co-designing course proposals alongside students and staff.

When a Guest Instructor’s course is approved at School Meeting, that approval shall supercede the School Plan protocol of interviewing for instructional and/or instructional support roles. Any Guest Instructor who has a course approved at School Meeting shall be immediately referred to Get It Right for employment.

Guest Instructor Pay

All Guest Instructors shall be contracted as Instructional (or Instructional Support if they do not have a teaching license and will co-teach with a licensed EC member) Part-Time Salaried employees. Salaries shall be determined by the following formula:

For a course with two hours of instruction each week:

Instructional time: 2 hours at $35.00 per hour = $70 per week

Planning and meeting time: 2 hours at $25.00 per hour = $50 per week

TOTAL = $120 per week

TOTAL PER TERM (at 13 weeks per term) = $1560.00

For a course with more or less than two hours of instruction each week:

Instructional time: x hours at $35.00 per hour = $y per week

Planning and meeting time: 2 hours at $25.00 per hour = $50 per week

TOTAL determined by formula above
